Abstract

Connect your Varicent ELT and Tableau accounts to export your data to your Tableau account.

Connect your Varicent ELT and Tableau accounts to export your data to your Tableau account. This connection allows Varicent ELT to write data to Tableau.

Set up the connector to be available for use with the Export tool. You only need to set up the connection once. After the connection is set up, Varicent ELT can write updates and inserts into Tableau.

Create the connection

Create the connection between Varicent ELT and Tableau. Generate a new Tableau connection or use an existing one.

Creating a new connection
  1. In Varicent ELT, go to your pipe.

  2. Add the Export tool.

  3. In the Export tool configuration section, click the Connection drop-down.

  4. From the connection drop-down, click + New connection.

  5. Create the new Tableau connection for the Export tool.

    1. On the Connect to your Model page, enter the following information to connect:

      Description

      Connector name

      The name of the connection.

      Server address

      The Tableau server address.

      Site ID

      The ID for the Tableau site.

      Token Name

      The name of the Tableau token.

      Personal Access Token

      The personal access token for your Tableau account.



    2. Click Next.

      You are sent back to your pipe page and the Export tool configuration is opened.

    3. In the Export tool configuration panel, enter the Project Name and the Data Source Name.

    4. Click Export now.

      The data is now available to use in the Export tool. For more information about the tool, see Export.

Using your existing Tableau connection
  1. In Varicent ELT, go to your pipe.

  2. Add the Export tool.

  3. In the Export tool configuration section, click the Connection drop-down.

  4. Search for and select your existing Tableau export connection.

  5. Select the Project Name from the drop-down list. Enter a name for the export under the Data Source Name.

  6. Click Export now.

    The data is now available to use in the Export tool. For more information about the tool, see Export.
