Data

The Data tool is often the first step in building a new pipe if you're not using a connector. The Data tool adds data to your pipe. Add data from a file you've already imported, or start a new import.

You can also use the Data tool to import placeholder data until you can import data from another pipe, using the Pipe tool.

You can add data from a file you've already imported or start a new import using this tool.

Configuration

Use the following prompts to help import your data into your pipe.

Adding data to a new Pipe builder

  1. Go to the Pipes module from the side navigation bar.

  2. When you create a new Pipe builder, the Select data sources modal appears.

  3. Select one or more data sources for your pipe,

  4. Click Add.

    Your data sources appear in your pipe,.

Adding data to an existing Pipe builder

  1. Go to the Pipes module from the side navigation bar.

  2. From the Pipes tab, click an existing pipe to open, or create a new pipe. To create a new pipe, read the Creating a pipe documentation.

  3. In your pipe, click symon_add_icon.png + Tool.

  4. In the search bar, search for Data. Click + Add tool.

    Tip

    You can also find the Data tool in the Data section.

  5. In the Select a data source to join configuration pane, search for your data source, or click Import data.
