Importing data

Before you can add a new run, you need some data to work with! There are several ways to import data into Symon.AI.

Importing data from the Data tab

  1. From the Data tab, click Import data.

  2. If you want to import a local file, drag the file onto the page.

    • You can also click Choose a file and then select the file you want to import.

  3. If you want to import data from a third party, select one of the options and then follow the steps to set up the connection for that third party.

Importing data from the Pipe builder

  1. From the Pipe builder, start typing Data and then click Create.

  2. From the Configure menu, click Import new data.

  3. If you want to import a local file, drag the file onto the page.

    • You can also click Choose a file and then select the file you want to import.

  4. If you want to import data from a third party, select one of the options and then follow the steps to set up the connection for that third party.

Importing Excel and CSV data from the Data tab

  1. From the Data tab, click Import data.

  2. If you want to import a local Excel or CSV file, click either the Excel or CSV tiles under Third party sources.

  3. Follow the steps to import the data.

Obfuscating your data

Obfuscation means making your data unintelligible or obscure. In Symon.AI, obfuscation is often done to protect personally-identifiable information. You have the ability to obfuscate your data by specifying which columns to include or exclude and which columns to make unintelligible as part of the import. For example, if you are importing data to use with the Gender Pay or Diversity app, you may want to obfuscate a column that contains names or a unique employee ID number that could be used to identify an individual.
